A transitional housing facility offers housing on a long-term basis, and services to assist individuals or families in overcoming the root issues that led them to be homeless. This as opposed to an “emergency shelter,” which offers a place to stay on a very short-term basis as needed, usually up to 30 days maximum, sometimes including meals.
